SOAR Founder, Jasmine, is a passionate and dedicated Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who specializes in working with children, youth, caregivers, and families impacted by mental health challenges.

  • Jasmine has over a decade of experience working across various mental health settings, such as Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry with BC Children’s Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital; Community Child and Youth Mental Health Outpatient Programs with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and Fraser Health Authority; Elementary and Highschool Remedial Programs in Vancouver and Burnaby School Districts; and a variety of Non-Profit organizations throughout the Lower Mainland. Jasmine also enjoys providing guest lectures at Douglas College to Child and Youth Care, Social Work, and Therapeutic Recreation students.

  • Jasmine holds a master of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria with a completed thesis titled: “Mindful children: Exploring the Conceptualization of Mindfulness Practice in Public Elementary School Settings”. As well, she hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Care, Diploma in Youth Justice, Advanced Practice in Child and Youth Mental Health Certificate, and is always seeking new training opportunities in the field so as to remain up to date with evidence based practices.

  • Jasmine utilizes a client and family centered, trauma informed, eclectic approach - drawing from various counselling modalities, such as, though not limited to; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Family Systems Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT); and Mindfulness Based Practices. She specializes in anxiety, depression, safety concerns, neurodivergence, sleep challenges, emotional dysregulation and behaviour challenges, school related difficulties (e.g. school refusal/avoidance, peer conflict/bullying, etc.), family conflict, the parent/child relationship, attachment parenting, and systems navigation/resource support.

  • Jasmine enjoys spending quality time with her husband, two year old son, and french bulldog. She loves living on the West Coast, often spending time out in nature, cooking and entertaining, exploring local menus, and travelling to new destinations when given the chance!

Darcie

  • Darcie is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who has many years of experience supporting children, youth, & families working abroad, through her work as a former Teacher in School District #36, and current work as both a High School Counsellor & Private Practice Therapist.

    Darcie works with a variety of challenges and presentations, including though not limited to; anxiety, depression, trauma, school related challenges, gifted profile & neurodivergence, self esteem & confidence, parenting support, system navigation, etc.

  • Darcie holds a Master of Education Degree, Bachelor of Education Degree, & Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of British Columbia. Darcie is committed to ongoing professional development & has completed a number of intensive trainings - such as, though not limited to; Neufeld Intensive Level 1 & 2, Play Therapy for Teenagers and Preteens, Focusing Oriented Therapy Workshop, Emotionally Focused Therapy Level 1 & 2, and has completed extensive EMDR training.

  • In Darcie’s counselling practice with children & youth - she currently integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR Therapy, and Mindfulness modalities based on clients’ needs.

  • When away from work - Darcie spends time with her three children & enjoys both skiing and camping with her family, swimming in clear blue waters with turtles, and reading.

Anastasia

  • Anastasia brings nearly a decade of experience working with youth and their families. Her experience includes working as a Youth Worker in group homes, a Youth Care Worker with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, and most recently, as a Concurrent Disorders Clinician/Therapist with both youth and young adults. 

  • Anastasia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. 

  • Anastasia prioritizes building a strong, trusting, and empathetic connection with her clients. She approaches each session with compassion, meeting clients where they are, and allowing them to move at their own pace in their journey.

    In her practice she utilizes various modalities, such as; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness exercises. She supports youth in navigating their unique challenges, empowering them to develop resilience, self-awareness, and confidence in their ability to cope.

  • Anastasia enjoys spending time with her Frenchton Milo and loved ones. She also enjoys being active and outdoors in the sunshine!

Victoria

  • Victoria is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who has several years of experience supporting children, youth, and families. She currently works as a Clinical Counsellor at a local Pediatrics Clinic & at PLEA Community Services Society of BC. She has also worked as an Office Manager & Assistant to the Director of Operations for the Ministry of Child & Family Development. Victoria specializes in the areas of; family work (e.g. family therapy, parent/child conflict, and parenting support), anxiety, ADHD, anger management, self esteem, school challenges, depression, etc.

  • After graduating with her Bachelor of Science from Simon Fraser University, Victoria then went on to complete her Master’s in Narrative Therapy & Community Work at the University of Melbourne.

  • Victoria views trust, empathy, and connection as the cornerstone of her work with children, youth, caregivers, and families. She specializes in Narrative Therapy & utilizes an eclectic approach to therapy - often drawing from other modalities, such as; Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Mindfulness, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). Victoria is also a registered mental health provider with First Nations Health Authority.

  • Away from work - Victoria loves to spend time with her dogs, watch movies & documentaries, has interest in interior design, and is a total ‘foodie’!

Angela

  • Angela is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with British Columbia’s Association of Clinical Counsellors. She has a great deal of professional experience working alongside children, youth, and families as a Preschool Teacher, a Child & Youth Care Worker in the Surrey School District — currently working in a local high school — and has training in the Langley Hospice supporting individuals and families with grief & loss.

    Angela loves supporting children, youth, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, self esteem, school related challenges, social challenges, emotional regulation, anger management, family conflict, and grief & loss.

  • Angela holds a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Previously, she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Care through the University of the Fraser Valley.

  • Angela looks forward to using her strengths of empathy, compassion, and building connections to help guide children, youth, and their families through their journeys. She believes that each individual has the capacity to grow, learn, and change — her job as a counsellor is to help them see and utilize their strengths. Her priority is to build a warm, safe, and inclusive space for all clients, caregivers, and families.

    By utilizing Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focused, as well as Mindfulness and Acceptance modalities, she will support individuals in a non-judgemental way. She looks forward to helping others reach their goals and help them on their path to growth.

  • In Angela’s spare time - she enjoys being active, starting new and creative art projects, cooking, baking, and spending time with loved ones. She feels most at peace when in nature, either in the mountains or by the ocean connecting and making memories with friends and family.

Arshia

  • Arshia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychiatric Nursing from Douglas College and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Arshia enjoys learning and is focused on continuing her education through new courses, workshops, and her love for reading. 

  • Arshia started off her role in the health care field a decade ago working as a community support worker, providing support both in homes and community for individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities. She then transitioned to working as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and has supported children, youth, adults and older adults in hospitals, virtual and community settings, group homes, and long term care facilities. She has worked with individuals from different backgrounds and with a variety of medical and mental health diagnoses. Most recently, she has started working as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and is passionate about supporting children, youth, and their families. 

  • Arshia believes that everyone is different and therefore benefits from an approach that is specially catered to their needs. She provides a variety of modalities, using a person-centred approach, Synergetic Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Solutions Focused Therapy to meet each clients individual needs. Her approach is also very family inclusive, respecting that the child and their village work together to help them grow and thrive.

  • Arshia enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is a child at heart. While she enjoys travelling, walks in nature, and reading - she also enjoys building LEGOs, doing puzzles, and arts and crafts.

Kristen

  • Kristen has worked for nearly a decade as a Child and Youth Care Counsellor with the Surrey School District and as a Child & Family Therapist with Vancouver Coastal Health Authorities Child & Youth Mental Health Services. Kristen works with children, adolescents, parents, and families. She specializes in ADHD, selective mutism, depression, anxiety, parenting, OCD, attachment, anger management, grief and loss, and safety challenges.

  • Kristen is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work Degree from University of British Columbia Okanagan. Kristen also holds a Bachelors Degree in Child & Youth Care Counselling, and a Diploma in Community Social Service Worker.

  • Kristen utilizes the following modalities: Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She believes the key to a therapeutic alliance/relationship is to provide a setting where one feels comfortable sharing their thoughts, beliefs, and emotions in a safe, open, and non-judgmental environment.

  • Kristen enjoys nothing more than spending quality time with her family and friends. She also integrates daily mindfulness practices such as meditation, journaling, and walks in nature into her day to day.

  • Heidi is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who has many years of experience supporting children, youth, and families. Her experience as a teacher and Vice Principal in several BC school districts has provided the opportunity to deeply understand the diverse needs of this population. Currently, she is a school counsellor and private practice therapist.

    She is passionate about bringing personalized approaches to her clients as they navigate challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem, relationship challenges, parenting support, anger management, depression, grief & loss, and school related challenges.

  • Heidi holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from Simon Fraser University, a Master of Educational Leadership from Vancouver Island University, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Heidi is a lifelong learner and continues to engage in professional development and trainings relevant to her field such as DBT, Narrative, and Internal Family Systems trainings.

  • Developing a relationship based on trust, empathy, and respect is Heidi’s first priority. She places a high value on relationships and sees a positive therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of effective therapy. By developing a safe environment, Heidi places the individual client’s needs at the center of her approach, recognizing that each client comes with their own unique experience and needs.

    She uses an integrative approach that includes Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapay (SFBT), Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

  • Heidi has earned the nickname “Outsidie Heidi”, as she finds great joy in all things happening outside - hiking, walking, boating, skiing, pickleball, and time at the beach. All of which is even better when done with her family, friends, and dog. Heidi loves time in the kitchen cooking, and most aspects connected with delicious food. She also loves travelling to new places and experiencing different cultures and food whenever possible.

  • Meet SOAR’s Intake Coordinator/Executive Assistant, Leah!

    Helping and connecting with others has always been a true passion for Leah. She has 20+ years of experience assisting Business Owners and working as an Executive Assistant for various CEOs in law firms.

    She is often complimented on her natural people skills, organizational & communication abilities, as well as her warm and mindful presence.

  • Leah completed her Legal Administrative Assistant schooling in the early 2000’s and has since pursued extensive Yoga Teacher Studies & Training.

  • Outside of the office, Leah loves learning about all things health & wellness, and she is always encouraging others’ to live their best lives. She enjoys travelling to new places, practicing yoga, meditating, and spending time with her family & friends.

SOAR provides a supportive, therapeutic outlet for children, youth, caregivers, and families to create healthy and positive changes that can last a lifetime. Through our counselling methods and clients tapping into their own inner resources, we support them to better understand the root causes of their distress and establish various tools to add to their ‘tool kit’ for the future. We work alongside our families to help create lasting changes in our young clients emotional states and behaviours.

Though, counselling is also meant to support maintenence of a healthy mind, body, and soul through ongoing and consistent engagement. FAQs

  • Card payment can be made directly through the online booking system. Alternate payment methods can also be discussed, if needed. Fees are in accordance with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) fee schedule. Prices do not include tax. A receipt will be provided to you following each session.

  • The majority of Extended Health Plans do cover Clinical Counselling sessions provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) for up to a certain amount. Private Clinical Counselling is not covered by your Medical Services Plan (MSP).

    Direct billing to extended health care plans is not currently offered - please contact your insurance provider for more information regarding coverage and reimbursement.

  • We are experienced in offering virtual sessions either via video or phone. Some clients prefer the convenience and comfort of virtual sessions, or a mixture of in person and virtual to meet the needs of their schedule.

  • Day time and after school/evening sessions are currently offered either in office or virtually weekly on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, Thursday’s, Friday’s, Saturday’s, Sunday’s, and some Statutory Monday’s.

  • Your booked session slot is reserved exclusively for you, therefore if you need to cancel or reschedule - we do require 24hrs notice. The total cost of the session will be charged to the credit card on file for late cancellations or ‘no-shows’. Should you be running late for session or will not be able to make the session due to emergency - please contact the office to inform us.
